Ulrich Hirt is also a well respected Swiss attorney and partner in the law firm Krneta & Partner in Berne. He was admitted to the bar in 1970. He started his career in local government (tax authorities) but changed to private practice in 1972. His main legal activities are in the areas of business law, building and land planning law, arbitration and litigation. Ulrich Hirt was previously chairman of the Board of Bank von Ernst (since 1987) and was appointed to the Coutts Bank von Ernst Board in October 2004. He is a well known figure in Berne being actively involved in local politics. He has also been President of the Swiss Bar Association - remaining a member - and is also a Member of the Governing Board and Executive Committee of the International Association of Lawyers.
